At around nine years old, I remember falling asleep to thoughts about what I would do if I had a million dollars… I would give it to our neighborhood grocery store to open its doors to people who couldn’t afford to buy food. I’d buy lumber for my dad to build houses for homeless people (since he had remodeled our basement). That nine-year-old mind has evolved, but never stopped thinking about how this world could be a better place for everyone.

Today as I sit here thinking about what is most important for you to know about me, it is clear. I want this world to be a better place for everyone, and we must work together. Yes-there are people who don’t believe that everyone should get a fair shot or that we should work together. Some people thrive on the current hate, fear, and division. But the rest of us in the majority must stand together—no matter your political beliefs- to do what is best for our families and communities. We must transcend politics!

Let’s have a conversation. What are our common goals and values? To me, it isn’t about handouts; it’s about providing opportunity and the tools for everyone to be their best selves and create their own best life. I am running for the Michigan State House because I want to be involved in those fruitful conversations. What are your hopes and dreams for your family and community? What can we do together to make it better for everyone?
